01: Heat
70–90° and the steam that builds
The gusmester begins slowly, a small amount of water and a gentle fanning. The steam finds its way. The pace builds gradually, and the room grows denser with each passing minute.
Sauna club in Nordhavn, open all year round.
The session
A German-Scandinavian ritual where a gusmester pours water with essential oils onto the sauna stones and moves the steam around with a towel. Equal parts heat, breath, and contrast. Three rounds of 10–15 minutes in the sauna.
01: Heat
The gusmester begins slowly, a small amount of water and a gentle fanning. The steam finds its way. The pace builds gradually, and the room grows denser with each passing minute.
02: Oils
The gusmester selects the scent for the day. The water meets the stones with a hiss. The aromatic steam reaches nose, lungs, and skin almost at once.
03: Music
Every saunagus has its own sound. The gusmester selects the music for the ritual: instrumental, slow to build, more intense as the steam thickens. The sound is part of the session, not the backdrop.
04: Cold
Straight from the bench, out into the cold. Uncomfortable for a few seconds, then something else entirely: stillness, clarity, a slow pulse.
05: Breath
Breathe slowly as the heat rises. The breath is your anchor. It brings you back to the body, in the sauna and in the cold alike. Find your own pace, no pressure.
06: Rhythm
A saunagus runs an hour and fifteen minutes. Three rounds, with breaks on the deck where you sit and feel the pulse settle. The body tells you when it is ready.
The people you meet
We are deliberately few gusmesters, so there is less turnover in the sauna and you can easily get a sense of how each one runs a saunagus. We have two kinds of saunagus: a relaxing one and an uplifting one. Both build gradually through the session. The relaxing one is about calm and presence, while the uplifting one carries more energy and movement.
Gusmester
A gentle build with the focus on high heat. Calm, atmospheric music is at the centre. Minimal guidance, with room to relax and stay inside your own experience.
Gusmester
A gentle introduction focused on breath and reassurance. An intense build of heat combined with carefully chosen essential oils. A balance between challenge and calm. You leave renewed and lifted.
Gusmester
A calm saunagus with a classical feel and the focus on presence. Classical, atmospheric music supports depth and reflection. Minimal interaction. The heat, the music, and the room speak for themselves.
Gusmester
A calm saunagus carried by the senses. Heat, music, and mood take their cue from the surroundings. Light guidance focused on the balance between body and mind.
Gusmester
Balanced, with room for both calm and energy. A quiet, understanding approach where the guest builds their own experience and their own space. Music and mood shift along the way, with extra intensity in the second round.
Gusmester
A calm, grounded saunagus drawn from nature. Silence is given priority over words. Gentle, atmospheric music with warm vocals and natural sounds.

Reassuring and calm, with the focus on towel technique and breath. Music and essential oils support relaxation and presence. Gentle guidance with room for depth and reflection.

● We are here to help
Find answers to the most common questions about the sauna, the session, and the practical details. If your answer is not here, write to us.
What is saunagus?
A ritual where a gusmester pours water with essential oils onto the sauna stones and moves the steam around with a towel. With us, three rounds of 10–15 minutes, with breaks in between.
How hot is it?
The sauna sits at 70–90°.
How long does a visit take?
The saunagus itself takes around an hour and fifteen minutes. Three rounds of 10–15 minutes in the sauna with a dip in between. Allow a little extra time for changing before and after.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, a towel, and a water bottle. We have changing rooms, showers, and soap on site. Sandals are nice, not necessary.
How early should I arrive?
10–15 minutes before the session. We start on time.
Are there lockable lockers?
Yes, we have small lockers. Bring your own padlock.
Do I need to be a member to come?
No. You can always buy a single ticket or a voucher card for saunagus, or rent a day wristband if you only want to use the sauna.
Can I use the sauna without being a member?
Yes. Rent a day wristband in the café. You collect it at the counter and drop it in the postbox by the door when you leave.
What does a membership cost?
1.800 kr a year plus 300 kr to join in the first year. It gives access to the sauna club all year round (sauna and facilities) and 125 kr per saunagus instead of 200 kr.
How long is a voucher card valid?
Twelve months from the date of purchase.
What do I do if I lose my wristband?
As a member you can buy a replacement wristband for 300 kr. Order here.
Where do I book a session?
Directly on the booking page: choose a session and pay by card.
Can I cancel?
Yes, up to 12 hours before the session starts. Later cancellations are not refunded.
What happens if a session is cancelled?
Your credit is returned automatically.
Is the sauna wheelchair accessible?
The approach is not level, and the sauna itself has a step. Write to us and we will find a solution.
May I come if I am pregnant?
Speak to your doctor first. We recommend avoiding longer stays in the sauna in the third trimester.
What about heart problems or high blood pressure?
The sauna and the cold water put a load on the circulation. Get the go-ahead from your doctor before you come.
